I am delighted to be the current Artist In Residence at The Cultural Center of Cape Cod’s Bird House Studio in Hyannis, Cape Cod. During my tenure, I’ll be making new work, continuing to teach, and most importantly of all, creating the large Hare Spray sculpture to go outside of The Children’s Art Museum in Hyannis.

A few photographs of the half scale hare sculpture made in late 2025. In order to create the steel armature I had to learn to weld. Once the armature was completed I coated it in balled aluminum foil, before adding a scratch coat of a fibrous cement clay called Pal Tiya. On top of the scratch coat I added a detail coat, allowing the sculpture to cure before I painted it. I’m now working on the full scale version (see below), which should measure 4.5 feet tall and weigh around 350lb.

As part of my residency I offer free workshops. In this one, students learned a technique for applying a real bronze surface to their fired ceramic pieces. The process involved a lot of ground bronze, boot polish and wire wool, but the results were great.
